Phaethon was a Son of the Sun<\/a>, just like his father Apollo<\/a>. Lugh the Cyclops was also. The same goes for a whole bunch of other gods from before across the planet. In America, China, Africa, everywhere. Why? How? What? Did the sun once sow gods and demigods across continents? Well, yes, it is possible. It depends on which sun…<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA universal title<\/h4>\n

What exactly does this title mean, son of the Sun? In Egypt, the exact title was Son of Re Aoum, the solar god. The pharaohs of the first dynasties were also called Sons of the Sun. On the other side of the Atlantic, we find this title in the Andes: the Inca, priest-emperor of his people, was worshipped under the name of Son of the Sun. One of the many titles held by high-ranking Tibetan dignitaries of old, such as the Karmapa, was also that of Son of the Sun.<\/p>\n

The emperors of China, self-proclaimed the country under heaven, also received the title of Son of the Sun, like the mythical emperor Yao, whose name is pronounced as Yahweh<\/a> or Jah.<\/p>\n

The ancient omnipresence of this title raises questions. Of course, none of these gods or demigods came from our star, the Sun, where the extreme rise in temperature makes human or divine life impossible.<\/p>\n

\nTuathas and Fomorians<\/h4>\n

Lugh<\/a> was the son of a Tuatha de Danann<\/a> and a Fomorian<\/a>, rival clan of the Tuatha. Fomorians and Tuathas were mortal enemies who always fought a merciless war. The two clans of reptilian giants had the same origin, Hyperborea, which Plato said was the origin of all the gods before.<\/em><\/p>\n

Lugh had for father Cian the Tuatha and for mother Ethniu the Fomorian, daughter of the dragon Balor<\/a>. If the dragon Lugh is a Son of the Sun, so are his parents.<\/em><\/p>\n

The epithet Son of the Sun would then be a sacred distinction, such as the title of Hajj worn by the Muslim who made the pilgrimage to Mecca. But if the title of Hajj is worn by all pilgrims, that of Son of the Sun seems much more selective.<\/em><\/p>\n

More than a simple distinction, it denotes a belonging, an origin. That of Hyperborea<\/a>?<\/em><\/p>\n

One day Phaethon begs his father Apollo<\/a> to let him drive, just one day, the chariot of the Sun. Apollo gives in and it is a catastrophe. Let us hear from Ovid the departure of Phaethon\u2019s road, when the sun burned the earth:<\/p>\n

“The Earth firstly catches fire in its hills; the heat opens them, and dries up the juices that feed the plants. The dry meadows whiten, the trees burn with their leaves… The cities perish with their walls; the fire consumes and burns forests and mountains, nations and peoples… Lybia, losing all its moisture, becomes a barren land … The Don fumes in the middle of its waves; the Euphrates burns in Babylon, the Ganges, the Phase and the Danube boil; the banks of Sperchios are in flames.<\/em><\/p>\n

The golden sands of Tagus melt under the heat, and the swans burn. <\/em><\/p>\n

The Nile<\/a>, terrified, runs away to the ends of the world… Its seven dry mouths form deep valleys where water no longer flows. The Earth opens up on all sides… The sea shrinks, and what was once the bottom of the ocean becomes nothing more than a plain of arid sands. Myths Are True<\/h4>\n

Ovid is a poet, so am I, and then? can we object. The episode he tells us is just a myth, and myth is not history<\/a>. Except that Plato<\/a> will show us the opposite: for the great philosopher, the myth is “the echo of a real event<\/em>.”\u00a0 Long before I read it, at the age when I was discovering mythologies in the Contes & l\u00e9gendes<\/a>Tales and Legends collection<\/span><\/em>, I knew that myths are so fascinating because they are true.<\/p>\n

Although this myth is a historical fact since countless furnaces have indeed ravaged this planet, the title of Son of the Sun has a completely different meaning, and it is possible that Phaethon is one of the initiates of the Sun, since his father Lugh\/ Apollo had himself received this initiation.<\/p>\n

Is it an initiation or an origin? Apollo was one of the gods before, in this capacity he came from the star Alcor in the Great Bear<\/a>, and he lived not on Mount Olympus in Greece, but on the mount of the same name on the mother ship Hyperborea, in a stationary orbit 200 km above the north pole. Hyperborea shone so brightly, night and day, throughout the year, that its dazzling gleam eclipsed that of the true sun, which seemed to be lost away at the bottom of the sky, while the radiance of the mother ship illuminated the entire northern hemisphere.<\/p>\n
