Serendipity is the making of a scientific discovery or a technical invention unexpectedly as a result of a combination of fortuitous circumstances and very often in the context of research on another subject. The serendipity is the fact of “finding something other than what one was looking for”, like Christopher Columbus seeking the road from the West to the Indies, and discovering a continent unknown to Europeans but known to the Vikings.
