Brittany Fairies

I live in Brittany, where the fairies are Margot and Morgane, where the elves are Korrigan.

Near Le Gouray in Côtes d’Armor, is a magic hill called Mount Croquelien. Covered with bonsai trees and rugged rocks, the ancient sanctuary once belonged to the great Brocéliande or Dark Forest, granite wood that covered all of central Brittany. Inland, everyone will tell you, Mont Croquelien is the birthplace of fairy Margot.

But no one says Marguerite de Valois was a fairy.

She was kind of a witch actually, even if the difference between fairy and witch is often only a figure of speech. Women of great power are fairies, and they are witches as well, depending on the imagination of the passer-by.

There are two kinds of fairies. Fairy tales are half-goddesses; they enjoy a supernatural power by right of birth; the fairies of old tales of chivalry have acquired their power to a lesser extent, by the study of magic books.

Yeah. If you want my opinion, sharp tools have quite helped the magical forces of nature to dig tubs as perfect, and coincidentally just the size of a human body. The Druids knew how much water is precious Jade, provided they are collected as rain storm, and stay for a whole moon in the open air, in a stone basin only.

Morgane is a distortion of the Breton Morrigan, which is the feminine form of Korrigan. Morrigans are fairies from the shore, spells related to the sea and the waves, and elsewhere related to Ondines.

They are the female counterpart of hazardous Korrigan named Yann An Aod ie Yann of the Coast, the sinister dark silhouette evoking sulphurous stories of pirates, also formerly called the Brothers of the Coast. Yes, just like Mean Yann.

As for dear and proud Margot, she has nothing to do with sand, waves and kelp. Her place is ferns, mosses and scrub oaks. Margot is absolutely not a distortion of Morrigan. Margot fairies, native to Croquelien, are purely inland fairies, they are the genuine rural and woodland fairies of central Brittany. Now central Brittany was called Argoat, who gave the French argot, ie slang. Argoat, ie inland Brittany woods, opposes Brittany coastline named Armor. Margot or rather Margotte means Ma (m) Argoat, ie Mother Hood. Mothers are Margot fairies, just because they were on this planet long before humans.
