Historians refuse to admit an African presence in Precolumbian America. So, for them, the earth was round. The most ancient peoples knew it. Ignorance came later. These different myths translated into all languages, over a prodigious period of time: several millennia at least. Unaltered: all myths tell the same story, with the same troubling details. It is hard to imagine myth peddlers selling their salads around the world.
Myths are similar because they describe real facts.
I would go even further: these myths that scientists despise tell that the “first men” had cameras, televisions and radars. They also had telescopes, radios, gonios, modern transport vehicles and telecoms satellites.
To them, the earth was round. The most ancient peoples knew it. Ignorance came later. The Balam were not “first men”, but the apogee of a civilization one hundred thirty thousand years old. Before the almost impassable curtain of the planetary flood fell, around -10,500 in our modern countdown. In line with this re-reading of the past, we like to imagine an unheard-of future.
Still, these highly developed Jaguars almost lost their planet. And probably their lives, in the process. After the cataclysm, they repopulated the earth with a genetically modified species, the current man, to whom they told what had happened before.
