The path that has heart? The formula comes from Nagual Juan Matus, the benefactor of Castaneda. His philosophy inspired me, I still practice it. Philosophy or wisdom, nagualism is not a cult. It is neither moral, nor altruistic, nor charitable in the Christian sense. Although… Let us remember that Jesus said: “Do not do charity, you would harm your soul.

I quote from memory the apocryphal of Thomas. People have forgotten almost everything, memory is no longer fashionable, as if we could do without it! The near past is old fashioned, and the distant past is believed to be useless. Mistake: it comes. And if everything goes well, we go back. If everything goes wrong, it will be pretty! We can make a cross on this planet with the inscription: Here lies the humanity that has well deserved it.

Do not fast, you will hurt your body. Do not do charity, you will hurt your soul.

Jesus, Gospel of Thomas

Necessary condition

Walking the-path-that-has-heart is a necessary condition in the life of the warrior of light. I was going to write: “In his survival.” Each warrior will know this moment on his journey where he no longer has a choice. The path of the heart will then be offered to him as the only possible way. Either he follows it, or he dies.

Years ago I told you that in his daily life a warrior chooses to follow the path of the heart. It is choosing this path that makes a warrior different from an ordinary man. He knows that a path has heart when he is one with this path, when he feels an immeasurable peace and pleasure to walk it in all its length.

-But if I’m not a warrior, how could I choose a path-that-has-heart?

“You’re at a turning point. Before you really didn’t need to live like a warrior. Now it’s different. You must surround yourself with the elements of a path-that-has-heart and refuse everything else. Otherwise, you will perish at the next meeting.

He who conquers himself is the most valiant of warriors.

Meeting the Ally

The nagual Matus wants to talk about a meeting with the ally. It is a creature from another plane of reality, a world where the dominant element is electricity. In our world, the dominant element is water. Our body is composed of 90% water. And all living in this plan follows this dominant rule.

The ally comes from a world under our feet. Just as we aspire to rise, the ally has the same desire. Also he chooses to take refuge in the physical body of a human person who will give him access to this world above his own. If he has the intelligence to choose an impeccable warrior, he makes a good deal, because thanks to him he will be able to rise even higher, in a higher plane of reality, the astral.

I am home to at least two allies. My benefactor Flornoy had three of them: the Gate Man, the Dragon Man, and the Grey Man. It is not necessary to have one or more allies, but the warrior has no choice. One fine day, I noticed the presence of an ally in me. I felt a living being that came out of my head through the fontanelle. The witnesses told me the rest. A smoke took a monstrous form, it was in red anger, then black. I especially perceived the fear of my surroundings, not being able to see the ally myself. It would have needed a mirror, or someone taking a photo.

When Flornoy made one or other of his allies appear, we could do just as well in our underwear. It happened to me, literally. I was no longer a kid, I was 42 years old. Afterwards, I had to take a shower and burn the calbard.

Flornoy laughed at all of our fright, because he himself could not attend the real show.

Man of Knowledge

At every turn, the warrior must revise his moral or ideological positions. They are often only conditional reflexes. Family or tribal behaviors acquired through mimicry, without the agreement of the deep being. Blind obedience explains many wars.

The impeccable warrior does not ask questions, he has stopped the world, he has stopped his inner dialogue. Thus he becomes a man of knowledge. He is free. Free to follow the path-that-has-heart, for it is his good pleasure.

“A man of knowledge chooses a path-that-has-heart and follows it. Then he looks, rejoices, and laughs. Then he sees and knows. He knows that his life will end way too soon. He knows that he is going nowhere, like everyone else. He knows, because he sees, that nothing is more important than something else. In other words, the man of knowledge has neither honor nor dignity, neither family nor name, nor homeland, but only a life to live, and in such circumstances his only bond with his fellow men is his controlled madness.

But Castaneda doesn’t understand anything, he moans and complains that all this is very complicated and that he can’t understand it.

“The man of knowledge does not think, he acts. To become a man of knowledge one must be a warrior and not a snivelling kid. One must strive, without giving up, without complaining, without bending, until succeeding in seeing and realizing that nothing is important.

The knowledge of man cannot extend beyond his own experience.

Thank the Living

By rereading this quote from Don Juan Matus, I remained forbidden. I had just picked up an important detail that had escaped me until then. A man of knowledge chooses a path-that-has-heart and follows it. Then he looks, rejoices and laughs. Then he sees and knows.

Have I finally become a man of knowledge? I have knowledge, but in the shamanic language of Castanedism, knowledge and knowledge have nothing to do with it.

Do I have heart or not? It depends. How to be sure of such a thing? In truth, that’s not what matters. It’s not me who has heart, it’s the way. I hadn’t understood anything at all and now it’s clear, dazzling. I choose the path-which-has-heart and the heart he has, he gives it to me. As long as I follow him, I will enjoy his heart. But as soon as I move away from it, the heart goes away.

The warrior doesn’t matter,
nor the man of knowledge.
What matters is the path.

This way of seeing things is purely shamanic. It corresponds to my current experience, which explains many things. I updated this article two years ago. Since then, I have changed. I found myself at a turning point, I had to choose. Should I turn or continue straight? Apparently I made the right choice. I followed the path-which-has-heart.  So often I had repeated this expression without understanding it!

Thank you, the Living.

No Morals

In matters of altruism and charity, there are fashions. The generosity of yesterday is insulting to today’s eyes. The benefits of tomorrow would seem inconceivable to us. For good or ill? These trends do not follow the ideal curve of progress. Nowadays they are regressing. It hasn’t escaped you.

On the other hand, what is charitable for you is an intrusion for another. It’s the story of Castaneda and his snail.

Uncomfortable because of his Christian upbringing, Castaneda asks the inevitable question of altruism to his benefactor. Matus’s response is not long in coming:

-There is no morality in the Rule.

It’s obvious. A Nagual does not give alms, the way of the warrior is not a church, impeccability has nothing to do with holiness.

The average man seeks certainty in the eyes of a spectator and calls it self-confidence. The warrior seeks to be impeccable in his own eyes and calls it humility.

Carlos Castaneda

There is a light at the end of every tunnel … we just have to pray this is not a train.

A Degrading Trend

In nagualism as in Buddhism, the follower ensures his individual salvation without worrying about the fate of others. Once again, Castaneda reposes himself. Don Juan specifies his thought: “On the path of the warrior, the choice is yours. I knew an implacable nagual who never gave a gift to anyone. It was his way of being impeccable. And I also knew the nagual Elias, very different. He followed the path-who-has-heart. It’s the path that I have always followed.

Nothing in the philosophy of the nagual leads to caring for others, nor listening to one’s heart. Nagualism has no heart. In our era of triumphant sentimentality, such infamy does not forgive. Everywhere, on all screens, the obscene display of commercial kindness makes eyes stream and cascading currency.

Charity business brings in a maximum. It pays, the butter heart melting on the radiator. This terrible use of money shows the abyss into which our time has plunged. The only god she worships is the archon Mammon, god of money. A man of knowledge cannot follow this degrading trend.

One must have to act and not act to have.

Jean-Claude Flornoy

Impeccable, Implacable

Strictly speaking, there is no god or morality for sorcerers, but a blind, inexhaustible, universal power, which is Energy, and a reactive impersonal principle, the Intention. With his own intention, the warrior attracts the impersonal Intention, which rains waves of Energy upon him.

Intention attracts energy like a lightning conductor attracts lightning.  When he receives cosmic energy, the warrior is connected: he is united with the Whole. Then he accumulates blows of pot and synchronicities. Each of us can learn how to attract good luck. The only way is impeccability. Not holiness.

Lightning governs everything.

Heraclitus

Implacability, impeccability resemble each other. The impeccable warrior does not handle himself with kid gloves. He does not beg any entity to grant him this or that, he demands it. No entity grants him what he asks. His unconscious makes the job. It bends to his requirement and lets him pass.

No use to open yourself, get taller first.

The Head Under the Water

Descending to the bottom of oneself is the first task to accomplish. To take this decisive step, warriors seem to lack energy. I receive in initiatory internship many people of both sexes around forty. They are already awake, but do not assume their status. They linger in adolescence. They still have a foot in carelessness and cultivate their irresponsibility.

I spent twenty years as a passer-by. Holding the door open on the uphill path. Passant du Devoir I am, I stay. But I don’t forget the parable of the snail. My role is limited to sending Energy and Intention when asked. These two forces will open them in two. When this opening takes place, the astral double that guided them every night incarnates within them. His voice is there, always present, as long as they follow the path-who-has-heart.

The Warrior and His Double

In the initiatory Tarot, awakening is played at the arcana XVI The Tower.

The image shows a flesh-colored tower, it’s our body. Horizontal color bands or other marks indicate the chakras.

The rise of energy began at the previous arcana, XV The Devil. The first six chakras opened, not the fontanelle.

In the image, we see that the frame bar crushes the fontanel of the Devil, preventing energy from springing up until awakening.

In La Maison Dieu,English: The Tower the gush is clearly visible at the top of the tower, and it joins a flame that descends from a kind of sun at the top right.

What I want to emphasize here is the character who descends from the sky in front of the tower.

He is awake.

Behind the tower, partly masked, there is his double. He also descended thanks to awakening, to the luminous connection between being and sky.

From now on, your double is within you, he guides you, he gives you the strength and energy to always follow the path of the heart.

And this double doesn’t tell you anything, doesn’t explain anything to you, it pushes you to act

Always Act

Buddhism has the same priority: all action must be effective, and aimed at a single goal, enlightenment. Philosophers say that Buddhism is a religion without a god. This joke! In Buddhism, the god is you. Follow your path, practice your spiritual exercises, you will awaken the god within you.

Buddha did it. He left saying a big goodbye to this world, to his disciples, to all humans. I am free, totally freed from the heavy chains that were holding me back on this planet, on this not clear plan. I am going elsewhere. Where? I don’t know, but I’m sure I’m going. I fade in your eyes. Don’t adore me, work on your own liberation. It’s the only thing that matters: obtaining the state of Buddha, to free oneself.

Like nagualism, Buddhism is a self-centered discipline. One acts. Not through meditation, not through contemplation, through action. By acting constantly, one works on oneself. One changes oneself. Others matter little. Charity is not on the agenda, nor is love for one’s neighbor.

Witness this fierce Buddhist saying: “If you come across Buddha on your way, kill him.”

Get lost, you low cost!

Kill Your Mind

After 60 years of effort, I have cut my head. Finally! The absence of thought opens the doors of perception and the windows to elsewhere. Thank you, the Living.

There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the Doors of Perception.

Aldous Huxley

Having an empty head allows one to remain on the left side, that is, to maintain oneself in clear and total consciousness, on the middle path. It’s my law. As far from the castrating reason as from schizophrenic madness, I followed the path-that-to-the-heart. Here is my truth, I advance unmasked. The king is naked. Let’s not think about it anymore…

At my age, I could be my father.

Will, Intention

Let’s no longer think about anything. Beyond reflection, choose action. Beyond the mind, choose the nagual. It is a rule, a force, an essence outside the world, a permanent intention, an achievement. It is not nagual who wants. It depends on what you mean by wanting.

Is it about wanting with one’s will or following the path of Intention? The will comes from the mind. It is weak, even timorous. The intention comes from the body. From the belly. Nothing can resist it. Still, it must be put in place.

When one is awake, this implementation occurs quite naturally. Awakening is a hackneyed word. For the warrior of light, it means a reunion with his deep nature. With his original status. With the state of power and certainty that is ours as humans.

This is how the creators of our physical body have made us. Then the Great Goddess was the creator of our supra-consciousness. She gave us the means to achieve it and maintain ourselves there.

Carlos Castaneda
